Online interaction: Blur can be played online against friends or strangers. Online multiplayer is also a blast, featuring solo and team racing, and the ability to increase rank by earning "fans," which can be used as currency to unlock new cars, modifications, and online modes.ĭespite the stiff competition from many other racing games released this month, Blur stands out for its clever blend of real-world vehicles and locations with fast action and weapons. to London, Tokyo to San Francisco), but the real fun is in your arsenal of power-ups, like nitro speed boosts, defensive shields, shock attacks, and mines. You have access to more than 55 licensed cars and many real-world locations (from L.A. Gamers who prefer arcade-style driving games over simulations will enjoy Blur's speed, graphics, and car handling (though drifting around corners feels a little too tight). For parents there is some mild language but not pervasive enough to be annoying and not frequent, but it IS a consideration for very young players. Highly recommended from an owner of both Mario Kart and Forza Horizon 3. Along with arena battles and multiplayer customization options, there's really no reason NOT to like this game if you are looking for a multiplayer racer, even with the option of disabling weapons if you like, making this title more versatile that any other arcade style racer to date. There is a story driven game mode, but this is completely optional for varietys' sake. In multiplayer mode everything is unlocked from the get go, so you are not bogged down with completing tasks and missions before you can get into the game. This is a very well executed ride with smooth controls and multiple vehicle types to fit your play style and drift /speed tolerances. Although not as 'cheeky' and cute as a cart style game, the balance between the realistic tracks with often multiple routes and the huge variety of cars to choose provides a refreshing addition and change from the norm making this game it's own thing while still keeping the fun factor of a cart like game in tact.

The realism is offset by the arcade style execution and forgiving in instances of crashing or missing a drift around a corner and careening off the road, causing you to instantly respawn into the race. Much like the title states, this is a more 'realistic' racer that takes notes from a Mario Kart racer with weapons to pick up along the way and allows 4 player split screen or online racing which is VERY rare and highly neglected feature.
